The relics of saint Geminian in Modena

When people here the name of San Geminiano, people think about the very touristic village in Tuscany, where visitors can admire the medieval towers. Actually, san Geminiano (312-397), whose feast is on January 31st (February 13th in the civil calendar) was the bishop of Modena (Emilia Romagna). His relics are even in the cathedral of Modena. They are located in a crypt just below the sanctuary at the upper level (following the Lombard style).

Saint Géminien, contemporain de Saint Ambroise de Milan, fut thaumaturge et exorciste. Il a combattu l'arianisme et le jovinianisme, doctrine de Jovinien qui rejetait la virginité perpétuelle de la Déipare (Théotokos) et combattait le monachisme.
